Now, therefore, the said Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section 1(1) and (2) and section 24(1) and (3) of the said Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Title and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Contamination of Feeding Stuff) (England) (No. 2) Amendment Order 1989 and shall come into force on 11th November 1989.

Amendment of the principal Order

The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Contamination of Feeding Stuff) (England) (No. 2) Order 1989 shall be amended by substituting for the Schedule to that Order (the designated area) the Schedule to this Order.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Contamination of Feeding Stuff) (England) (No. 2) Order 1989 (“the principal Order”) which contains emergency prohibitions restricting various activities in order to prevent human consumption of food rendered unsuitable for that purpose in consequence of the escape of lead into imported animal feeding stuff.

The Order substitutes a new Schedule to the principal Order (article 2 and Schedule). Certain farms, holdings and premises are removed from the designated area within which certain activities are prohibited by the principal Order. Further farms, holdings and premises (shown in italics in the new Schedule) are designated. Some corrections are made to the description of areas already designated. Movement of cattle and food from any farm, holding or premises described in the new Schedule is controlled by the principal Order which also imposes certain other restrictions throughout the United Kingdom.
