The National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1989

The Secretary of State, in exercise of powers conferred on him by sections 25(1), (2) and (5), 105 and 108(1) of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978( [^f00001]) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 1st May 1989.

Amendment of Regulations

Regulation 36 of the National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Regulations 1974( [^f00002]) (amount and time of payments in consequence of suspension) shall be amended as follows:—

• (a) in paragraph (1)(a)(i) for “£1,935” there shall be substituted “£2,243” ;

• (b) in paragraph (1)(a)(ii) for “£967” there shall be substituted “£1,121” ;

• (c) in paragraph (1)(b)(i) for “£967” there shall be substituted “£1,121” ;

• (d) in paragraph (1)(b)(ii) for “£1,935” there shall be substituted “£2,243” ; and

• (e) in paragraph (2) for “£107,103” in both places where it occurs there shall be substituted “£117,689” .

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Regulations 1974, which provide for the arrangements under which dentists provide general dental services under the National Health Service in Scotland.

These Regulations increase the amounts of and the amounts used in calculating payments to dentists during periods when their registration under the Dentists Act 1984 (c. 24) is suspended by an interim suspension order or by a direction or order of the Health Committee.
