Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations effect amendments to the National Health Service (Travelling Expenses and Remission of Charges) (Scotland) Regulations 1988 which provide for the remission and repayment of certain charges which would otherwise be payable under the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 and for payment by the Secretary of State of certain travelling expenses.
They increase the amounts to be deducted, in the calculation of a person’s entitlement to remission or repayment, for housing costs in respect of non-dependants. These amendments are consequential upon the uprating of social security benefits on 10th April 1989.
