The A59 Samlesbury–Skipton Trunk Road (Improvement from Crooks House to Bentha Hill) Order 1989

Made: 20th March 1989

Coming into force: 26th April 1989

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him(b), and of all other enabling powers:

The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the routes described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into force.

The centre line of each of the new trunk roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

The lengths of the Trunk Road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Lancashire that the new trunk roads are open for through traffic.

In this Order–

• (1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

• (2)

• (i) “the deposited plan”means the plan numbered HA10/1 CNW 253 marked“The A59 Samlesbury–Skipton Trunk Road (Improvement from Crooks House to Bentha Hill) Order 1989” signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

• (ii) “the new trunk roads” means the highways mentioned in article 1 of this Order; and

• (iii) “the Trunk Road” Means the Samlesbury–Skipton Trunk Road (A59).

This Order shall come into force on 26th April 1989 and may be cited as the A59 Samlesbury–Skipton Trunk Road (Improvement from Crooks House to Bentha Hill) Order 1989.

SCHEDULE 1 — ROUTES OF THE NEW TRUNK ROADS

The routes of the new trunk roads are in the Parishes of Bracewell and Horton, in the County of Lancashire, and are as follows–

• (a) from a point on the Trunk Road about 54 metres north east of Street Laithe to a point on the Trunk Road about 180 metres north east of New Laithe, a distance of about 0.73 kilometres;

• (b) from a point on the Trunk Road about 360 metres north east of Street Laithe, extending about 5 metres in a south easterly direction; and

• (c) from a point on the Trunk Road about 50 metres south west of New Laithe, extending about 22 metres in a south easterly direction. 2SCHEDULE 2 LENGTHS OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD

The lengths of Trunk Road ceasing to be trunk road are as follows–

• (a) from a point 54 metres, to a point 370 metres, north east of Street Laithe; and

• (b) from a point 60 metres south west, to a point 180 metres north east, of New Laithe.
