The Pilotage Authorities (1988 Returns) Order 1988

Coming into force: 30th September 1988

The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Pilotage Act 1983[^f00001] (“the 1983 Act”) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:–

This Order may be cited as the Pilotage Authorities (1988 Returns) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 30th September 1988.

The 1988 returns to be delivered by a pilotage authority to the Secretary of State pursuant to section 19(1) of the 1983 Act shall give the particulars with respect to pilotage in their district indicated in Form “A” in the Schedule to the Pilotage Authorities (Returns) Order 1978[^f00002] (“the 1978 Order”) and shall be delivered in that form or in a form substantially to the same effect, but any reference in that Form to the year (except in relation to item 6) or to the year ended 31st December shall be taken as a reference to the period from 1st January 1988 until 30th September 1988 (inclusive), any other reference in the Form to 31st December shall be taken as a reference to 30th September 1988, and the reference to the year in item 6 shall be taken as a reference to the year ended 30th June 1988.

The 1988 statement of accounts to be furnished by a pilotage authority to the Secretary of State pursuant to section 19(2) of the 1983 Act shall be in the form set out as Form “B” in the Schedule to the 1978 Order or a form substantially to the same effect, but the reference to the year ended 31st December shall be taken as a reference to the period from 1st January 1988 until 30th September 1988 (inclusive).

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order prescribes the particulars and form of returns and statements of accounts to be given by pilotage authorities for the period of their operation immediately preceding their abolition on 1st October 1988.
