The Vehicles (Charges for Release from Immobilisation Devices) Regulations 1989

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by sections 104(4) and 142(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[^f00001], I hereby make the following Regulations:

• (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Vehicles (Charges for Release from Immobilisation Devices) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 1st June 1989.

• (2) The Vehicles (Charges for Release from Immobilisation Devices) Regulations 1985[^f00002] are hereby revoked.

For the purposes of section 104(4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the charge in respect of the release of a vehicle from an immobilisation device shall be £30.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

Section 104 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 empowers a constable to fix an immobilisation device to an illegally parked vehicle and provides for a charge to be prescribed for the release of a vehicle from a device which has been affixed to it in accordance with the section. By virtue of the Vehicles (Charges for Release from Immobilisation Devices) Regulations (S.I. 1985/1660) the prescribed charge is £25. These Regulations revoke the 1985 Regulations and prescribe a new charge of £30.
