The Fire Precautions (Non-Certificated Factory, Office, Shop and Railway Premises) (Revocation) Regulations 1989

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 12 and 37 of the Fire Precautions Act 1971[^f00001], and having consulted with such persons and bodies of persons as appear to me requisite, I hereby make the following Regulations:

These Regulations may be cited as the Fire Precautions (Non-Certificated Factory, Office, Shop and Railway Premises) (Revocation) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 1st April 1989.

The Fire Precautions (Non-Certificated Factory, Office, Shop and Railway Premises) Regulations 1976[^f00002] are hereby revoked.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke, with effect from 1st April 1989, the Fire Precautions (Non-Certificated Factory, Office, Shop and Railway Premises) Regulations 1976, which provide for fire precautions to be taken in certain premises which do not require a fire certificate under the Fire Precautions Act 1971. On that date the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1989 (S.I. 1989/75) brings into force provisions amending the Fire Precautions Act 1971, including a new section 9A of that Act which imposes a general statutory duty to provide all premises which are exempt from the requirement for a fire certificate with adequate means of escape in case of fire and means for fighting fire.
