The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 45(2) and (7) and 46 of the Road Traffic Act 1988[^f00001] and by the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988[^f00002] and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Tests) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 2nd July 1990.

The Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981[^f00003] are hereby amended so that in the regulations specified in column 1 of the Table below for the amounts specified in column 2 of the Table there are substituted the amounts specified in column 3 of the Table.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations further amendthe Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981 (“the principal Regulations”) as follows.
- (a) The fee payable for the examination of a motor bicycle not having a sidecar attached to it is increased from £8.56 to £9.30.
- (b) The fee payable for the examination of any other vehicle (not being a Class VI vehicle) is increased from £14.26 to £15.50. Class VI vehicles are public service vehicles other than those of a type specified in regulation 5(3) of the principal Regulations.
- (c) The fee payable for the issue of a duplicate test certificate for vehicles (other than Class VI vehicles) is increased—
- (i) from £4.28 to £4.65 in the case of a motor bicycle not having a sidecar attached to it; and
- (ii) from £7.13 to £7.75 in any other case.
