Coming into force: 3rd August 1990
The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Cumbria that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

In this Order—
- (1) All measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway.
| 2 i “the deposited plan” | means the paln numbered HA10/1/CNW/280 marked “The Greenodd to Barrow-in-Furness Trunk Road (A590 Dalton-in-Furness Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 1990”, signed by authortiy of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY; |

| ii “the trunk road” | means the (A590) Greenodd to Barrow-in-Furness Trunk Road; |
| iii “the new trunk road” | means the new trunk road to be constructed by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the Greenodd to Barrow-in-Furness Trunk Road (A590 Dalton-in-Furness Bypass) Order 1990[^f00003]; and |
| iv “classified road” | as a classification for a highway means that the highway is not a principal road for the purpose of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads. |

This Order shall come into force on 3rd August 1990 and may be cited as the Greenodd to Barrow-in-Furness Trunk Road (A590 Dalton-in-Furness Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 1990.
SCHEDULE — LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
That length of the trunk road at Dalton-in-Furness in the County of Cumbria approximately 3.50 kilometres in length from its commencement at the Barrow-in-Furness Borough boundary, approximately 160 metres north east of the junction of Barrow Road (A590) and Park Road, to a point approximately 160 metres south west of the junction of Ulverston Road (A590) and the U6097.
