The Building Societies (Accounts and Related Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations 1990

The Building Societies Commission, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 73 of the Building Societies Act 1986([^f00001]), and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Building Societies (Accounts and Related Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 31st December 1991.

Amendment of previous Regulations

Schedule 2 to the Building Societies (Accounts and Related Provisions) Regulations 1987([^f00002]) shall be amended by the deletion of item 9(b) of Part I, item 10(b) of Part II and subparagraph (1)(b) in paragraph 11 of Part III.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations remove references to Time Deposits in the Building Societies (Accounts and Related Provisions) Regulations 1987 (S.I. 1987/2072); building societies will cease to mention such deposits in their annual accounts compiled after the coming into operation of the Regulations.

The Regulations follow the removal of Time Deposits (as defined in the section) from section 7 of the Building Societies Act 1986 as a category of non-retail funds, by the Building Societies (Non-Retail Funds and Deposits) Order 1990 (S.I. 1990/2363).
