The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 36(2)(b) and 37(1) of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations, a draft of which has been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, each House of Paliament:

For the yearly sum of £2,645 specified in section 17(2)(a) of the Act[^f00002], there is hereby substituted the yearly sum of £2,860.

Regulation 4 of the Civil Legal Aid (Financial Conditions) (Scotland) Regulations 1990[^f00003] is hereby revoked.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations increasethe financial income limit of eligibility for civil legal aid under the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986, to make legal aid available without payment of a contribution to those with disposable incomes of less than £2,860 a year (instead of £2,645).
