The Secretary of State, being satisfied that the site identified inarticle 2 of this Order is, or may prove to be, the site of a vessellying wrecked on or in the sea bed and that, on account of thehistorical and archaeological importance of the vessel, the site oughtto be protected from unauthorised interference, and that the case is onein which an Order should be made as a matter of immediate urgency, inexercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 1(1), (2) and (4)of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973[^f00001]and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, herebyorders as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Protection of Wrecks (Designation No.1) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 3rd May 1991.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the Order

This Order designates as a restricted area for the purposes of theProtection of Wrecks Act 1973 an area in the Erme Estuary, Devon, roundthe site of what is thought to be the wreck of a vessel which is ofhistorical and archaeological importance.
