In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 28(1) of the Education Reform Act 1988[^f00001] the Secretary of State for Education and Science, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, hereby make the following Regulations:

Publication of proposals

Any proposals which are required to be published by section 28(1) of the Education Reform Act 1988 (proposals for reducing any standard number applying to any county or voluntary school under section 27 of that Act) shall be published—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

These Regulations, which revoke and supersede the Education (Publication of Proposals for Reduction in Standard Number) Regulations 1988, prescribe the manner in which proposals by a local education authority or the governing body of a county or voluntary primary school, as well as of a county or voluntary secondary school, for a reduction in any standard number applying to the school under section 27 of the Education Reform Act 1988 are to be published before application is made to the Secretary of State for an order bringing about such a reduction.
