The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 21(5), 23, 34 and 43 of the Legal Aid Act 1988[^f00001], and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:–

These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) (Amendment) Regulations 1991 and shall come into force on 8th April 1991.

In these Regulations a regulation or Schedule referred to by number means a regulation or Schedule so numbered in the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) Regulations 1989[^f00002].

For the table in Schedule 4 there shall be substituted the following new table:–

Exceeding £60 but not exceeding £65 £2
Exceeding £65 but not exceeding £69 £3
Exceeding £69 but not exceeding £73 £4
Exceeding £73 but not exceeding £77 £5
Exceeding £77 but not exceeding £81 £6
Exceeding £81 but not exceeding £85 £7

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) Regulations 1989 by providing for a separate form for the grant of legal aid in the magistrates' court and Crown Court and by amending the scale of weekly contributions payable in criminal and care proceedings.
