Coming into force: 28th March 1991

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from the date on which the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

This Order shall come into force on 28th March 1991 and may be cited as The A6119 and A677 Leeds-Halifax-Burnley-Blackburn-East of Preston Trunk Road (Whitebirk to Samlesbury) (Detrunking) Order 1991.

SCHEDULE — LENGTH OF ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is about 12.35 kilometres of the trunk road in the County of Lancashire, and extends from and including the roundabout al Whitebirk (which is Junction 6 of the existing M65 Motorway (Whitebirk to Hyndburn Section) in the Borough of Hyndburn) to its junction with the Samlesbury-Skipton Trunk Road (A59 Whalley Road) at Samlesbury in the Borough of South Ribble.

NOTE: Unit of length: 1 kilometre =0.621 of a mile approximately.
