The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in relation to England, the Secretary of State for Scotland in relation to Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales in relation to Wales in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 10(1), (2) and (8) of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 1984[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling them in that behlaf, hereby make the following Regulations:

Title and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Artificial Insemination of Pigs (EEC) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 1st January 1993.

Intra-Community trade in porcine semen

Disapplication

The Artificial Insemination of Pigs (England and Wales) Regulations 1964[^f00004] and the Artificial Insemination of Pigs (Scotland) Regulations 1964[^f00005] shall not apply to the collection, processing, storage and transport of porcine semen for the purpose of export to a member State.

Explanatory note

(This note does not form part of the Regulations)

These Regulations implement the provisions of Council Directive 90/429/EEC in relation to exports to member States and the approval of semen collection centres which engage in intra-Community trade in porcine semen. They disapply the Artificial Insemination of Pigs (England and Wales) Regulations 1964 and the Artificial Insemination of Pigs (Scotland) Regulations 1964 which continue to regulate the domestic trade in porcine semen.
