Made: 14th May 1993

Coming into force: 9th June 1993

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:–

The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct–

The centre lines of the new trunk roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan.

The Secretary of State directs as respects any part of a highway which crosses the route of a new trunk road that–

This Order shall come into force on 9th June 1993 and may be cited as the A500 Newcastle-under-Lyme to Nantwich Trunk Road (Basford-Hough-Shavington Bypass and Slip Road) Order 1993.

SCHEDULE 1 — ROUTE OF THE MAIN NEW TRUNK ROAD

A route at Basford Hough and Shavington in the County of Cheshire about 7.56 kilometres in length from the southern side of the roundabout junction of the south eastern end of the Nantwich Bypass and the existing A500 trunk road in a generally easterly direction, crossing the B5071 Crewe Road, then connecting with the western side of the roundabout junction of the existing A500 trunk road and the A5020 at Meremoor Moss.

SCHEDULE 2 — ROUTE OF THE SLIP ROAD

A route at Shavington in the County of Cheshire to connect the westbound and eastbound carriageways of the main new trunk road with the B5071 Crewe Road (as proposed to be improved) the new trunk road along this route being given the reference number 1 on the deposited plan.
