The A4074 Trunk Road (Crowmarsh Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 1993

Coming into force: 20th August 1993
The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:—

This Order may be cited as the A4074 Trunk Road (Crowmarsh Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 20th August 1993.

In this Order:—
- (i) “principal road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer tohighways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
- (ii) “the Trunk Road” means the West of Maidenhead to Oxford Trunk Road (A4074, previously A423).

This length of the Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road, as from the date on which this Order comes into force.
THE SCHEDULE — LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The length of the Trunk Road ceasing to be a trunk road is the length known as Crowmarsh Bypass, and extends from its junction with Benson Lane (south of the sewage works) southwards to, and including, its roundabout junction with Crowmarsh Hill and The Street, a total distance of approximately 1.32 kilometres. That length is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered MSE/0/A423/0/65/2/1, marked “The A4074 Trunk Road (Crowmarsh Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 1993”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY.
