Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 1(1) of the Armed Forces Act 1991 provided that the Army Act 1955, the Air Force Act 1955 and the Naval Discipline Act 1957 should continue in force until 31st August 1992 and should then expire unless continued in force in accordance with the section. The Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Order 1992 (S.I. 1992 No. 1712) enabled those Acts to continue in force for 12 months beyond that date. This Order enables the Acts to continue in force for a further period of 12 months.
