The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 29(2) and 30(2) of the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) Act 1967[^f00001] and now vested in him[^f00002] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order applies the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) Act 1967 to a class of unregistered This Order applies the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) Act 1967 to a class of unregistered British ships as if they were ships registered in the United Kingdom.This has the effect, in particular, of enabling the Secretary of State for Transport to exempt in certain cases such ships from all of the provisions of the Act and of the Merchant Shipping (Load Lines) Rules 1968, or from such provisions of the Act and Rules as may be specified in a Load Line Exemption Certificate.

The Order replaces a 1991 Order and an amending Order, which each contained an error.
