Made: 22nd October 1993

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 65 together with section 60(5) of the National Lottery etc.Act 1993[^f00001], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Provisions coming into force on 25th October 1993

The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 25th October 1993:

The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 21st December 1993:

Transitional provisions

Paragraphs 18A and 27(4)(c) of Schedule 1 to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963[^f00002] and articles 17(2)(d) and 27(1)(f) of the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 [^f00003] (which were inserted by section 18 of the Act) shall not apply in a case where any of the persons mentioned in those paragraphs or articles has received or negotiated a bet on the outcome of any lottery forming part of the National Lottery before 21st December 1993.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force—

This Order also makes transitional provisions in relation to the amendments made to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 and the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 by section 18 of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993 (which relates to control of betting on the National Lottery).
