In pursuance of paragraph 1 of Schedule 4 to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963[^f00001], having regard to the definition of “prescribed” in section 55(1) of that Act, I hereby make the following Regulations:

Regulation 6 of the Licensed Betting Offices Regulations 1986[^f00002] shall be amended by the substitution, for the words “between 6.30 p.m. and midnight.”, of the following words:

: (a) between 10 p.m. and midnight during April, May, June, July and August; and (b) between 6.30 p.m. and midnight at any other time of the year.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Licensed Betting Offices Regulations 1986 by providing that a licensed betting office must be closed between 10 p.m. and midnight on any day between April and August, inclusive. For the rest of the year, such an office must be closed between 6.30 p.m. and midnight, as was previously the case throughout the year.
