The Friendly Societies Commission, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it bysection 11(7)(b) of the Friendly Societies Act 1992[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Friendly Societies (Group Schemes) Regulations 1993, and shall come into force on 19th February 1993.

Prescribed groups

A group of persons shall be prescribed for the purposes of the definition of “group scheme” within section 11(3)(b) of the Friendly Societies Act 1992 if it is a club formed for any of the following purposes:

In witness whereof the common seal of the Friendly Societies Commission is hereunto fixed, and is authenticated by me, a person authorised under paragraph 13 of Schedule 1 to the Friendly Societies Act 1992, on14th January 1993.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations concern group insurance business. Regulation 2 prescribes additional groups of persons in respect of which a friendly society may provide benefits under a group scheme pursuant to section 11 of the Friendly Societies Act 1992.
