The Pensions Increase (Civil Service Early Retirement Pension Scheme 1992) Regulations 1993

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(2) and (4) of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971[^f00001] and now vested in them[^f00002], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:—

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Pensions Increase (Civil Service Early Retirement Pension Scheme 1992) Regulations 1993, and shall come into force on12th April 1993.

Interpretation

• (1) In these Regulations—

• “the 1971 Act” means the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971;

• “pension” means a pension within the meaning of the 1971 Act.

• (2) For the purposes of these Regulations the time when a pension “begins” is that stated in section 8(2) of the 1971 Act[^f00003].

Pensions to which the 1971 Act will apply

The 1971 Act shall have effect in relation to any pension payable under the Civil Service Early Retirement Pension Scheme 1992 (being a superannuation scheme made under section 1 of the Superannuation Act 1972[^f00004]) as if it were a pension specified in Part I of Schedule 2 to the 1971 Act.

Date from which increases of pension are to have effect

Any increase of pension payable by virtue of these Regulations shall have effect in respect of any pension beginning on or after 1st April 1992.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations apply the provisions of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 to any pension payable under the Civil Service Early Retirement Pension Scheme 1992 (being a superannuation scheme made under section 1 of the Superannuation Act 1972). Regulation 4 allows increases to take effect from dates before the making of the Regulations.
