Explanatory note

This Scheme revokes the Crofters etc. Livestock Purchase Loans (Scotland) Scheme 1966, which provides for loans to crofters and eligible occupiers towards the cost of purchase of livestock or the acquisition of shares in a sheep stock club or sheep stock club co-operative credit society.

Loans under the 1966 Scheme which have not yet been repaid are subject to written agreements or bonds. In terms of section 16(1)(c) and (e) and section 23 of the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30), existing rights and obligations under such agreements or bonds, as well as remedies to enforce them, are not affected by the revocation of the 1966 Scheme.
