In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 24 of the Superannuation Act 1972[^f00001] I hereby with the consent of the Treasury[^f00002] make the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Metropolitan Police Force (Compensation for Loss of Office) Regulations 1994 and shall come into force on 1st August 1994.

Application

Compensation payments

The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis may decide that an eligible person is to be paid by the Receiver for the Metropolitan Police District compensation calculated in accordance with the Schedule.

SCHEDULE — CALCULATION OF COMPENSATION

The amount of compensation is A × B, where—

For the purposes of paragraph 1 one month’s pay is

$$C12$ where C is the total as at his last day of service of— his annual pay ascertained in accordance with regulations 37 (rate of pay) and 39 (London weighting) of the Police Regulations 1987[^f00006], and the London allowance payable under regulation 65 of those Regulations.$

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations provide for the payment of compensation, calculated by reference to their pay and London allowance, to inspectors, chief inspectors, superintendents and chief superintendents leaving the metropolitan police force voluntarily during the 12 months ending with 31st March 1995 with at least 30 years' service and aged less than 54.
