Section 1 of the Sunday Trading Act 1994 provides for the new provisions it makes for Sunday trading to come into force on a day to be appointed by the Secretary of State, and the restrictions on Sunday trading in the Shops Act 1950 cease to have effect on that day.
By virtue of section 9 all the remaining provisions of the 1994 Act also come into force on the appointed day. This Order makes 26th August 1994 the appointed day when the whole of the Sunday Trading Act 1994 will be in force.
