The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 283(4) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988[^f00001] hereby makes the following Rules:

These Rules may be cited as the Registered Trade Mark Agents (Mixed Partnerships and Bodies Corporate) Rules 1994 and shall come into force on 24th March 1994.

In these Rules—

For the purposes of section 283 of the Act (persons entitled to describe themselves as registered trade mark agents) the conditions to be satisfied, in the case of a partnership where not all the partners are registered trade mark agents or in the case of a body corporate where not all the directors are registered trade mark agents, are—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

These Rules prescribe, for the purposes of section 283 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, the conditions to be satisfied by partnerships or bodies corporate where all the partners or, as the case may be, directors are not registered trade mark agents in order for the partnership or body corporate to carry on business under the name or any description containing the words “registered trade mark agents”, or describe itself or permit itself to be described as such.
