Coming into force: 1st April 1994

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on her by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A)(c) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st April 1994.

Abolition of Authorities

The District Health Authorities specified in Schedule 1 to this Order are hereby abolished.

Establishment and names of new Authorities

For each of the districts determined by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) Order 1994[^f00002] and specified in column (1) of Schedule 2 to this Order there is established a District Health Authority which shall be known by the name specified in column (2) of that Schedule in relation to that district.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order abolishes on 1st April 1994 the District Health Authorities specified in Schedule 1 (article 2), and establishes the new District Health Authorities specified in Schedule 2 in relation to the districts for which they are established (article 3).

This Order substitutes a new Schedule 1 to the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990 which lists all the District Health Authorities in England (article 4 and Schedule 3).
