The National Health Service (Regional Health Authorities) Order 1994
Made: 10th March 1994

Coming into force: 1st April 1994
The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on her by sections 8(1)(a) and (1A)(a) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, commencement and interpretation

- (1) This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (Regional Health Authorities) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st April 1994.
- (2) In this Order, “the Regions Order” means the National Health Service (Determination of Regions) Order 1994[^f00002].
Abolition of Regional Health Authorities

The Regional Health Authorities specified in Schedule 1 to this Order are hereby abolished.
Continuation of Regional Health Authorities

Trent Regional Health Authority and West Midlands Regional Health Authority shall continue to be established in relation to Trent Region and West Midlands Region respectively, the determination of each of which is continued by the Regions Order.
Establishment and names of new Authorities

For each of the regions determined by the Regions Order and specified in column (1) of Schedule 2 to this Order there is established a Regional Health Authority which shall be known by the name specified in column (2) of that Schedule in relation to that region.
Revocation

The National Health Service (Constitution of Regional Health Authorities) Order 1975[^f00003] is hereby revoked.

- South Western Regional Health Authority

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order abolishes 12 of the 14 Regional Health Authorities constituted for the purposes of the National Health Service Act 1977 (article 2 and Schedule 1). It also continues the establishment of the remaining two of those Authorities (article 3), establishes a new Regional Health Authority in relation to each of the 6 new regions determined for the purposes of that Act by the National Health Service (Determination of Regions) Order 1994 (article 4 and Schedule 2) and revokes an earlier Order (article 5).
