In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 187 of the Education Act 1993[^f00001], the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Groups including Grant-maintained Special Schools) Regulations 1994 and shall come into force on 8th April 1994.

“The 1993 Act” in these Regulations means the Education Act 1993.

Modification of Chapter IX of Part II of the 1993 Act

For the purposes referred to in section 187(1) of the 1993 Act Chapter IX of Part II of that Act is modified as follows:

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations, made under section 187 of the Education Act 1993, modify Chapter IX of Part II of the Act (which enables schools to join together as groups ofgrant-maintained schools). The effect of the modification is to extend the relevant provisions to grant-maintained special schools.
