The Combined Probation Areas (Shropshire) Order 1996

Made: 13th February 1996

Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 2 of the Probation Service Act 1993[^f00001], and after the consultation required by that section, hereby makes the following Order:

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Combined Probation Areas (Shropshire) Order 1996.

• (2) This Order shall come into force on 1st April 1996 save that, for the purpose of making appointments to the probation committee for the Shropshire Probation Area to take effect on that date, this Order shall come into force forthwith.

• (2) That part of the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986[^f00002] which relates to the Shropshire Probation Area shall be amended by substituting in column 3—

• (a) “1” for “2” in the entries in respect of the petty sessions areas of Bridgnorth, Ludlow and Oswestry;

• (b) “1” for “3” in the entry in respect of the petty sessions area of Drayton;

• (c) “2” for “5” in the entry in respect of the petty sessions area of Shrewsbury; and

• (d) “4” for “8” in the entry in respect of the petty sessions area of Telford.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/1713) so as to reduce from twenty-two to ten the number of justices appointed to the Shropshire Probation Committee.
