Made: 25th March 1997

Laid before Parliament: 26th March 1997

Coming into force: 19th April 1997

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 10(6) and 55(1) of, and paragraph 3 of Schedule 4 to, the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

1

2

Regulation 4(1) of the Licensed Betting Offices (Scotland) Regulations 1986[^f00002] shall be amended as follows–

Signed

George Kynoch — Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Scottish Office — 25th March 1997

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Licensed Betting Offices (Scotland) Regulations 1986 as a consequence of the making of the Deregulation (Betting and Bingo Advertising etc.) Order 1997. That Order, amongst other things, permits the advertising of licensed betting offices through advertisements in a material form.

These Regulations amend regulation 4 of the 1986 Regulations to make it clear that the restrictions set out in that regulation will not apply to advertisements published in a material form. They also remove a reference in regulation 4 to section 10(6)(b)(iii) of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963, which is repealed by the said Order.
