The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977¹ and by section 5(1) of, and paragraph 29(1) of Schedule 2 to, the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990² and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, considering it appropriate in the interests of the health service to make this Order³, and after completion of the consultation prescribed under paragraph 29(3) of Schedule 2 to the latter Act⁴, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Dissolution of the Ashford Hospital National Health Service Trust and the St. Peter’s Hospital National Health Service Trust Order 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.

Dissolution of NHS trust

(1) The Ashford Hospital National Health Service Trust established by the Ashford Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1991⁵ is dissolved, and accordingly that Order is revoked.

(2) The St. Peter’s Hospital National Health Service Trust established by the St. Peter’s Hospital National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1991⁶ is dissolved, and accordingly that Order is revoked.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order dissolves the Ashford Hospital and the St. Peter’s Hospital National Health Service Trusts on 1st April 1998.

This Order should be read in conjunction with the Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1998⁷.
