The European Union (Amendment) Act 2008 (Commencement No.1) Order 2009

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8(1) and 8(2) of the European Union (Amendment) Act 2008[^f00001], makes the following order.
Citation

- (1) This Order may be cited as the European Union (Amendment) Act 2008 (Commencement No.1) Order 2009.
Commencement
2
Section 3 of, and the Schedule to, the European Union (Amendment) Act 2008 shall come into force on 1 December 2009.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
Article 2 of this order brings into force, on 1 December 2009, Section 3 of, and the Schedule to, the European Union (Amendment) Act 2008, which relate to changes of terminology. The effect of this is to update references to European Union terminology in other legislation to reflect changes made by the Treaty of Lisbon amending the Treaty Establishing the European Union and the Treaty Establishing the European Community[^f00002]. This order brings into force the changes of terminology provided by section 3 and the Schedule to the European Union (Amendment) Act 2008, including removing references to the Community Treaties and substituting the EU Treaties.
