The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980 (a) and now vested in him[^f00001]:–

This Order may be cited as the A52 Trunk Road (A46 Newark to Widmerpool Improvement and Slip Roads) (Detrunking) Order 2009 and shall come into force on 30th January 2009.

In this Order—
- (i) “the new trunk road” means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2 of the A52 Trunk Road (A46 Newark to Widmerpool Improvement and Slip Roads) Order 2009.[^f00002];
- (ii) “the trunk road” means the A52 Trunk Road

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the Nottinghamshire County Council that the new trunk roads are open for traffic.
SCHEDULE 1 — LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD
The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between Widmerpool and Newark and commences at the point on the plan marked R, about 660m west of the centre of the existing Saxondale roundabout, to a point on the plan marked S, about 50m west of the existing Saxondale roundabout and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA 10/MP/093, marked “The A52 Trunk Road (A46 Newark to Widmerpool Improvement and Slip Roads) (Detrunking) Order 2009” signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, and deposited at the Department of Communities and Local Government-DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order authorises the detrunking of a length of the existing A52 Trunk Road, between a point on the A52, 660m west of the centre of the existing Saxondale roundabout, to a point about 50m west of the existing Saxondale roundabout.
