EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Ecclesiastical Exemption (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) (England) Order 2010 (SI 2010/1176) (“the Principal Order”) which applies in respect of buildings situated in England.

Article 7 (1)(d) of the Principal Order retains the ecclesiastical exemption for church buildings owned by or held in trust for the purposes of the United Reformed Church which are situated within one of the Provinces set out in Schedule 2 of that Order and held on trusts set out in Part I of Schedule 2 to the United Reformed Church Act [1972 (c.18)](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1972/18) or Part I of Schedule 2 to the United Reformed Church Act [1981 (c.14)](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1981/14).

This Order amends Schedule 2 of the Principal Order by inserting the ‘Northern’ Province of the United Reformed Church to that Schedule.
