The Education and Inspections Act 2006 and Education and Skills Act 2008 (Consequential Amendments to Subordinate Legislation) (England) Regulations 2010

The Secretary of State for Education makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 183 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006[^f00001] and section 170 of the Education and Skills Act 2008[^f00002]:
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and Education and Skills Act 2008 (Consequential Amendments to Subordinate Legislation) (England) Regulations 2010 and comes into force on the 1st September 2010.
Amendment of the Jobseeker’s Allowance Regulations 1996

In regulation 57(1) of the Jobseeker’s Allowance Regulations 1996[^f00003] for the definition of “the Connexions Service” substitute—
- “the Connexions Service” means a service made available by a local authority in accordance with section 68 of the Education and Skills Act 2008;

In regulation 2(1) (interpretation) of the Education (Special Educational Needs) (England) (Consolidation) Regulations 2001[^f00004] for the definition of “Connexions Service” substitute—
- “Connexions Service” means a service made available by a local authority in accordance with section 68 of the Education and Skills Act 2008;

- (1) The Schedule to Children Act 2004 (Joint Area Reviews) Regulations 2005[^f00009] is amended as follows.
- (2) In paragraph 1 omit the definitions of “the 2000 Act” and “the ALI”.
- (3) In paragraph 4—
- (a) in sub-paragraph (1) for “section 114(1) of the 2000 Act (provision of services encouraging participation by young persons in education or training)” substitute “section 68 (support services: provision by local authorities) of the Education and Skills Act 2008”;
- (b) in sub-paragraph (2)(a) for “section 118(7) of the 2000 Act” substitute “section 75(7) of the Education and Skills Act 2008”.

- (1) The Education (Information About Children in Alternative Provision) (England) Regulations 2007[^f00011] is amended as follows.
- (2) In regulation 8(k)—
- (a) for “the Secretary of State” substitute “a local authority”;
- (b) for “section 114(2) of the Learning and Skills Act 2000” substitute “section 68(3)(b) of the Education and Skills Act 2008”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations are made under the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and the Education and Skills Act 2008.
The Regulations make consequential amendments to subordinate legislation necessary as a consequence of the repealing of sections of the Learning and Skills Act 2000[^f00014] by the two Acts mentioned above.
