EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force on the 30th September 2010 sections 23 to 27 of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (“the Act”). Sections 23 to 27 make provisions relating to the preparation, modification and content of the specification for apprenticeship standards for England. Apprenticeship frameworks must conform to the requirements of the specification of apprenticeship standards for England if they are to be issued by the English issuing authority as recognised English frameworks.

This Order also brings into force on 28th February 2011 section 202(3) of the Act which inserts a new section 47ZA into the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. Section 47ZA applies where a local authority propose to allocate money to a childcare provider (other than a maintained school), for the purposes of discharging the authority’s duty to secure sufficient childcare free of charge. The table in the note below lists the provisions brought into force by previous orders and footnotes the order which amended a previous order.
