The Electoral Administration Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1 and Saving Provision) (Scotland) Order 2010

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(2) and (4) of the Electoral Administration Act 2006[^f00001], makes the following Order.

Citation and interpretation

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Electoral Administration Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1 and Saving Provision) (Scotland) Order 2010.

In this Order “the Act” means the Electoral Administration Act 2006.

Commencement of section 68 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006

Section 68 (funding of services and expenses of returning officers) of the Act shall in so far as it extends to Scotland come into force on 10 February 2010

Saving Provision

Section 68 of the Act shall not have effect in relation to any election for which the date of the poll specified in the notice of election issued in relation to that election is on or before 10 February 2010.

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force on 10 February 2010 section 68 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 (c.22) in relation to Scotland. Section 68 concerns the funding of services and expenses of returning officers. Section 68 came into force in England and Wales on 1 January 2007 and in Northern Ireland on 1 July 2008.
