At the Council Chamber, Whitehall, the 24th day of February 2010By the Lords of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council
Their Lordships make the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by article 1(4) of the General and Specialist Medical Practice (Education, Training and Qualifications) Order 2010[^f00001].
Citation

This Order may be cited as the General and Specialist Medical Practice (Education, Training and Qualifications) Order 2010 (Commencement No.1) Order of Council 2010.
Appointed day
2
1st April 2010 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the General and Specialist Medical Practice (Education, Training and Qualifications) Order 2010—
- (a) article 3;
- (b) article 4 and Schedule 1, except in relation to paragraph 12 of that Schedule; and
- (c) article 7 and Schedule 3, except in relation to paragraph 5 of that Schedule.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order brings into force on 1st April 2010, the provisions of the General and Specialist Medical Practice (Education, Training and Qualifications) Order 2010 (S.I.2010/234) relating to the abolition of the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board and the transfer of its functions to the General Medical Council. It also brings into force consequential amendments to legislation arising from the transfer of those functions.
