The School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Order 2011

The Secretary of State for Education makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 122(1), 123 and 124 of the Act.

Citation, commencement, application and interpretation

• (1) This Order may be cited as the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Order 2011 and comes into force on 1st September 2011.

• (2) This Order applies to school teachers[^f00002] in England and Wales.

• (3) In this Order, “the Document” means the document entitled “School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document 2011 and Guidance on School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions” published on the website of the Department for Education.

The Document

The provisions set out in section 2 of the Document have effect on and after 1st September 2011 for the purposes of determining—

• (a) the remuneration of school teachers, and

• (b) other conditions of employment of school teachers which relate to their professional duties and working time.

Revocation

The School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Order 2010[^f00003] and the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions (Amendment) Order 2011[^f00004] are revoked.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order makes provision for the determination of the remuneration of school teachers (within the meaning of section 122 of the Education Act 2002) in England and Wales and other conditions of employment of school teachers which relate to their professional duties and working time.

This Order makes this provision by reference to section 2 of a document entitled “School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document 2011 and Guidance on School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions” (“the Document”). It can be found on the website of the Department for Education, at www.education.gov.uk. The Order provides that the provisions set out in section 2 of the Document have effect from 1st September 2011.

This Order revokes the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Order 2010 and the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions (Amendment) Order 2011.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
