The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2011

Made: 20th October 2011

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 157(1) of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011[^f00001].

Citation and interpretation

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2011.

• (2) In this Order “the Act” means the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.

Provisions coming into force on 31st October 2011

The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act is 31st October 2011—

• (a) section 31 (conduct);

• (b) section 79 (policing protocol) except subsection (2);

• (c) section 98 (police reform: transitional provision), in so far as necessary for the purposes of sub-paragraph (e) below;

• (d) Schedule 7 (regulations about complaints and conduct matters);

• (e) paragraph 24 of Schedule 15 (power to make transitional provision etc).

Provisions coming into force on 15th November 2011

The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act is 15th November 2011—

• (a) section 78 (general duty of the Secretary of State);

• (b) section 80 (obtaining advice from representative bodies);

• (c) section 95 (police: complaints), in so far as necessary for the purposes of sub-paragraph (f) below;

• (d) section 151 (temporary control of drugs);

• (e) section 152 (advisory council on the misuse of drugs);

• (f) paragraphs 1 to 3 of Schedule 14 (police: complaints);

• (g) Schedule 17 (temporary class drug orders).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings the following provisions of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 into force on 31st October 2011: section 31, section 79 (in part) section 98 (in part), Schedule 7 and paragraph 24 of Schedule 15. It brings the following provisions of the Act into force on 15th November 2011: section 78, section 80, section 95 (in part), section 151, section 152, paragraphs 1 to 3 of Schedule 14 and the whole of Schedule 17.
