The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 8B(5) of the Immigration Act 1971[^f00001].

This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) (Amendment No. 7) Order 2011 and shall come into force on 14th December 2011.

In this Order, “the Schedule” means the Schedule to the Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) Order 2000[^f00002].

In Part 1 of the Schedule, after “Resolution 1896 (2009) of 30 November 2009 (Democratic Republic of the Congo).” insert—

Resolution 1952 (2010) of 29 November 2010 (Democratic Republic of the Congo). Resolution 2021 (2011) of 29 November 2011 (Democratic Republic of the Congo).

(1) Part 2 of the Schedule is amended as follows.

(2) After “Council Decision 2011/299/CFSP of 23 May 2011 (Iran)” insert “and as amended by Council Decision 2011/783/CFSP of 1 December 2011 (Iran)[^f00003]”.

(3) For “Council Decision 2011/273/CFSP of 9 May 2011 (Syria) as implemented by Council Implementing Decision 2011/302/CFSP of 23 May 2011 (Syria), Council Implementing Decision 2011/367/CFSP of 23 June 2011 (Syria), Council Implementing Decision 2011/488/CFSP of 1 August 2011 (Syria) and Council Implementing Decision 2011/515/CFSP of 23 August 2011 (Syria) and as amended by Council Decision 2011/522/CFSP of 2 September 2011 (Syria).” substitute “Council Decision 2011/782/CFSP of 1 December 2011 (Syria)[^f00004].”.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Schedule to the Immigration (Designation of Travel Bans) Order 2000.

It amends Part 1 of the Schedule to include the United Nations Resolutions set out in article 3 of this Order, which relate to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It also amends Part 2 of the Schedule to list Council Decision 2011/783/CFSP of 1 December 2011 (Iran) and Council Decision 2011/782/CFSP of 1 December 2011 (Syria). Council Decision 2011/782/CFSP replaces Council Decision 2011/273/CFSP and related measures on Syria.

Any person named by or under an instrument listed in the Schedule (as amended) or falling within a description specified in such an instrument will be excluded from the United Kingdom (subject to the exceptions specified in article 3 of the 2000 Order).

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
