The General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2012

At the Council Chamber, Whitehall, the 16th day of April 2012By the Lords of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council

By virtue of sections 35(1) and 36(1) of that Act, such Rules shall not come into force until approved by Order of the Privy Council.

Their Lordships, having taken these Rules into consideration, are pleased to and do approve them.

This Order may be cited as the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules Order 2012 and comes into force on 9th May 2012.

SCHEDULE — The General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2012

The General Osteopathic Council hereby makes the following Rules in exercise of its powers under sections 6(2) and 35(2) of the Osteopaths Act 1993.

Citation, commencement and interpretation

• (1) These Rules may be cited as the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2012 and come into force on 9th May 2012.

• (2) In these Rules, “the Principal Rules” means the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) Rules 2000[^f00002].

Amendments to the Principal Rules

In Part III of the Schedule to the Principal Rules—

• (a) in rule 6(2), for £397 substitute £385;

• (b) in rule 8(1)—

• (i) for £750 substitute £675, and

• (ii) for £795 substitute £695;

• (c) in rule 8(2), for £395 substitute £385;

• (d) in rule 8(3), for £530 substitute £515;

• (e) in rule 8(4), for £275 substitute £260, and

• (f) in rule 10(1), for £750 substitute £675.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the General Osteopathic Council (Application for Registration and Fees) Rules Order of Council 2000[^f00003] by reducing: the “entry fee” payable by an Osteopath paying in instalments when first entered on to the register; the “annual retention fee” payable by an Osteopath in order to remain on the register subsequently; and the “restoration fee” payable by an Osteopath who has never paid a retention fee in order to have an entry restored to the register.

The entry fee payable under rule 6(2) is reduced from £397 to £385 when paid in instalments.

The annual retention fee payable under—

• (i) rule 8(1) is reduced from £750 to £675 when paid in a lump sum and from £795 to £695 when paid in instalments;

• (ii) rule 8(2) is reduced from £395 to £385 when paid in instalments;

• (iii) rule 8(3) is reduced from £530 to £515 when paid in instalments, and

• (iv) rule 8(4) is reduced from £275 to £269 when paid in instalments.

The restoration fee payable under rule 10(1) is reduced from £750 to £675.
