The Local Government Act 2000 (Commencement No. 9) Order 2012
Made: 21st May 2012
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 108(3) and (7) of the Local Government Act 2000[^f00001], makes the following Order:
Citation and application

- (1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 2000 (Commencement No. 9) Order 2012.
- (2) This Order applies in relation to England and Wales.
Provisions coming into force the day after the day on which this Order is made

The following provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 come into force the day after the day on which this Order is made—
- (a) paragraphs 8, 12, 13, 15, 25, 26 and 34 of Schedule 5;
- (b) in Schedule 6 the repeal of—
- (i) sections 94 to 98 and 105 of the Local Government Act 1972[^f00002] and in section 265A(1)(b) of that Act, “94 to 98”;
- (ii) the words “except where subsection (3A) below applies” in section 30(3) of the Local Government Act 1974[^f00003] and section 30(3A) of that Act;
- (iii) sections 19, 31 and 32(1) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989[^f00004];
- (iv) paragraphs 9 and 10 of Schedule 7 to the Environment Act 1995[^f00005]; and
- (v) section 66 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999[^f00006]; and
- (c) section 107 to the extent that it relates to the paragraphs and repeals referred to in paragraphs (a) and (b) of this article.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order commences further provisions of the Local Government Act 2000 (c.22) repealing provisions in a number of statutes relating to the conduct of members of relevant authorities. Provision for the conduct of such members is now governed by Part 3 of the Local Government Act 2000. Part 3 of the 2000 Act has in turn been repealed in relation to England by the Localism Act 2011 (c. 20) from a date to be appointed. Chapter 7 of Part 1 of the 2011 Act makes new provision for the conduct of members.
