The Protection of Wrecks (Designation) (England) (No.2) Order 2012

Coming into force: 3rd August 2012

In accordance with section 1(4) of that Act the Secretary of State has consulted such persons as the Secretary of State considers to be appropriate having regard to the purposes of this Order.

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Protection of Wrecks (Designation) (England) (No.2) Order 2012 and comes into force on 3rd August 2012.

Identification of site and designation of restricted area

• (1) The site in position Latitude 51°13.96698′ North, Longitude 01°26.00898′ East[^f00002] is identified as the site where a vessel lies, or is supposed to lie, wrecked on or in the sea bed.

• (2) The area within 50 metres of the site identified in paragraph (1), excluding any part of that area above the high water mark of ordinary spring tides, is designated as a restricted area for the purposes of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order designates as a restricted area for the purposes of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 an area within 50 metres from the site of a vessel identified as “Goodwins and Downs 8” or “GAD8” lying in the Downs anchorage, 2.04 kilometres east of Deal, Kent.

A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this Order.
