The Policing and Crime Act 2009 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2012

Made: 28th August 2012

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in the exercise of the powers conferred by section 116(1) of the Policing and Crime Act 2009[^f00001].

Citation, interpretation and extent

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Policing and Crime Act 2009 (Commencement No. 8) Order 2012.

• (2) In this Order “the Act” means the Policing and Crime Act 2009.

• (3) This Order extends to England and Wales and Northern Ireland.

Provisions coming into force on 10th September 2012

The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act is 10th September 2012:

• (a) section 96;

• (b) section 112(1) insofar as it relates to the provisions of Schedule 7 specified in paragraph (c) below;

• (c) Part 10 of Schedule 7.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order commences amendments made by the Policing and Crime Act 2009 to sections 119 and 120A of the Police Act 1997 (c. 50) in relation to information to be provided by the Independent Safeguarding Authority to the Secretary of State which can taken into consideration when determining whether a person is suitable to be registered as someone able to counter-sign applications for criminal records certificates.
