The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Amendment) Regulations 2012

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1

The Secretary of State is a Minister designated[^f00001] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[^f00002] in relation to the environmental aspects of product design and makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by that section.

Citation and commencement

• (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Amendment) Regulations 2012.

• (2) Subject to paragraph (3), these Regulations come into force on 1st January 2013.

• (3) Regulation 3(3) comes into force on 29th September 2013.

• (1) The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations 2010[^f00003] are amended as follows.

• (2) In Schedule 1 (declaration of conformity) in the table at paragraph 4 after item 12 insert—

• (1) The Energy Information Regulations 2011[^f00006] are amended as follows.

• (2) In the table at Schedule 1 (EU measures) for the entry relating to air-conditioners substitute—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations make amendments to the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations 2010 (S.I. 2010/2617) and the Energy Information Regulations 2011 (S.I. 2011/1524) and partially implement four EU Commission Regulations as follows—

• (a) regulation 2 inserts additional products (water pumps, air conditioners and comfort fans) into the table in Schedule 1 (declaration of conformity) to the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products Regulations 2010;

• (b) regulation 3(2) substitutes the reference to air conditioners in Schedule 1 (EU measures) to the Energy Information Regulations 2011; and

• (c) regulation 3(3) substitutes, from 29th September 2013 the reference to household tumble driers in Schedule 1 (EU measures) to the Energy Information Regulations 2011.

A fullimpact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
