The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 150(3) and (4) (b)(iii) of the Welfare Reform Act 2012[^f00001].

Appointed day for personal independence payment

The day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the 2012 Act listed in article 7(2) of the Welfare Reform Act 2012 (Commencement No. 8 and Savings and Transitional Provisions) Order 2013[^f00002] in relation to a person other than a person referred to in paragraph (1) of that article is 10th June 2013.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This is the tenth Commencement Order made under the Welfare Reform Act 2012 (c. 5).

This Order brings into force the following provisions of that Act.

Article 2 brings into force provisions relating to personal independence payment so that they apply to people in respect of whom those provisions were not commenced by the eighth Commencement Order under that Act (the Welfare Reform Act 2012 (Commencement No. 8 and Savings and Transitional Provisions) Order 2013 ([S.I. 2013/358](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/358))). Under that Order, the personal independence payment provisions were commenced only in relation to people whose only or principal residence was in a postcode listed in Schedule 3 to that Order. The day appointed for the coming into force of these provisions is 10th June 2013.

Article 3 brings into force section 110 which contains powers to make regulations prescribing descriptions of persons who are required to provide information relating to investigations. The days appointed for the coming into force of that section are 17th June 2013 for regulation-making purposes and 1st October 2013 for all other purposes.
